Free computer virus finds willing victims

One Born every minute….

Hundreds of people have clicked on an online advertisement to download a free computer virus that said, “Is your PC virus-free? Get it infected here”.

Data security firm F-Secure says 409 people clicked on computer specialist Didier Stevens ad during a six-month campaign on Googles Adword.

“Some of them must have clicked on it by mistake,” F-Secure spokesman Mikky Hypponen said.

“Some must have been curious or stupid.”

Mr Stevens says there was no virus involved and the campaign was an experiment aiming to show such advertising systems can be used for malicious intent.
