Bill Murrays Midlife Crisis

I can only hope that i can experiancve a mid life crisis like Bill Murray does!

But the weirdest part of the experience is not that Bill showed up at some random ragtag Halloween party, but that its only one of several out-of-place encounters New York City hipsters have had with the actor in the past few months. From hanging out with rock bands to hitting on twentysomething women at bars, Bill seems to be going through his own unique midlife crisis. Hes not a boozy, sweaty party hound who gets caught on camera cheesing it up with pretty young girls see: Mel Gibson, Bono; rather, hes more like a ghost in the night, who shows up out of nowhere, engages in utterly random conversations and then exits gracefully—leaving witnesses to wonder what the hell just happened. Deadpan, detached and seeming a bit lonely, Bill Murray is NYCs most unlikely new party guy.

Timothy Leary on LSD, Dying, Church, Internet, Etc.

Timothy Leary was interviewed by Paul Krassner in 1995, the year before he died. In this free wheeling interview, Leary talks about LSD, Death & Dying, the Catholic Church, the Internet, Ram Dass, G. Gordon Liddy, the Weather Underground, and more. This is an edited version excerpted from the 8 part series in Nancy Cain’s video archives.

The Brag of the SubGenius

A classic SubGenius rant to be repeated as an affirmation roughly ten times daily. Do this for ten years and something very interesting will occur !

SHUT UP OR STAND UP!

A fragment. Transcribed from a cassette tape recording made at a seance in 1973.

"I PICK THE GOD DAMN terror of the fucking gods out of my nose! Pardon my language. But YEEEEEHAW, let the sons of God and man bear witness! Even in the belly of the Thunderbird I've been casting out the False Prohets; I'm busting a gut and blowing my O-ring, and ripe to throw a loaf! For I speak only the fucking Truth, and never in my days have I spoken other than! For my every utterance is a lie, including this very one you hear! I say, `Fuck'em if they can't take a joke!'

The 23 Enigma

Twenty three is the first primary number in which both digits are prime numbers and add up to prime numbers. According to the seventeenth century scholar Archbishop Ussher the world was created on October 23rd, 4004 BC. The end of the world, if we are to believe the Mayans, will be December 23rd, 2012. Julius Caesar was reportedly stabbed twenty three times by his assassins, which is the same amount of letters in the Latin alphabet and also the date in April on which our greatest literary canon, William Shakespeare, was born and died. If I was to tell you that it takes twenty three seconds for the blood to circulate around the body; that the axis of Planet Earth is 23.5 degrees and that computers communicate in 2³ bits (bytes) would you start to become a little suspicious? Maybe not. Some of you more illuminated readers will already have noticed that this article appears on page 23 of this magazine. Is this fate – the work of higher forces – or can it be simply explained away as the result of a particularly astute editorial team?

Rev. Ivan Stang at Baltimore SubGenius Devival

Rev. Ivan Stang at Baltimore SubGenius Devival
On Nov. 10, 2007, inside a huge rented Methodist church building in Baltimore, Ministers in The Church of the SubGenius enjoyed a Slack-packed devival with four bands and seven preachers, all in the name of J.R. “Bob” Dobbs. Rev. Ivan Stang herein presents the sermon known as “SubGenius 101,” which covers “Bob,” Slack and The Conspiracy for the uninitiated
