DMT and Extraterrestrial Communication

Very nice article discussing the multitude of extraterrestrial communication reports received by humans experimenting with DMT.

Do people meet alien entities on DMT because they expect to meet alien entities? It’s not an idle question, it’s grounds for a fun experiment, too. From the Rodruigez paper:

To validate or falsify this hypothesis, the experimenter should perform a single blind study in which human subjects are used who have never heard of DMT and its extraordinary effects on the human psyche. These subjects are told that DMT inebriation will provide them solely a visual and auditory hallucination. By simply defining the experience as that experienced in front of the veil, the ill-informed subject will have no preconception as to what is possible given the right conditions for entering into the DMT-induced alternate reality. If subjects continually return only to describe the world in font of the veil, then it can be concluded that the DMT experience can be influenced by biasing the subject. In this sense, the hallucination is driven by preconceptions and therefore may be understood solely as an inconsistent subjective hallucination. On the other hand, if the inexperienced human subjects return with testimonies of encounters with alien beings, then DMT is responsible for alien entity experiences. It is noted that this experiment has already been implemented with positive results. Dr. Strassman’s work used unassuming human subjects that did, in fact, return from DMT inebriation with entity experiences (Strassman 2001).

DMT Experiance Recorded on Microcassette

I couldn’t make it to Burning Man that year, but my good friend Marc was going so I gave him a large vial of DMT (dimethyltryptamine) and a microcassette recorder with instructions to administer it to the people he was with and to record audio of the whole experience.

For those not familiar with DMT, I will describe it to you like this: It feels remarkably like jumping out of an airplane… in reverse. It is the most intense psychedelic experience I have ever had but unlike LSD or psilocybin it only lasts for about 10 minutes and unlike cocaine or alcohol I don’t think anyone could get addicted to this stuff. Individual observations vary but it is generally described as an out of body experience or a temporary departure from the reality known as the 3rd dimension.

The following are the microcassette tapes that Marc returned with after a week of tripping in the Nevada desert. Although one tape randomly seemed to contain an old interview with the keyboard player of the band U2, good job Marc.

Tryptamine Hallucinogens and Consciousness

Great transcript of a speach given by Terence McKenna in 1983 that also apparantly appears in his book “The Archaic Revival”.
Very interesting stuff , here is the opening paragraph :

There is a very circumscribed place in organic nature that has, I think, important implications for students of human nature. I refer to the tryptophan-derived hallucinogens dimethyltryptamine (DMT), psilocybin, and a hybrid drug that is in aboriginal use in the rain forests of South America, ayahuasca. This latter is a combination of dimethyltryptamine and a monoamine oxidase inhibitor that is taken orally. It seems appropriate to talk about these drugs when we discuss the nature of consciousness; it is also appropriate when we discuss quantum physics.

I especially enjoy his thoughts on DMT fear :

One of the interesting characteristics of DMT is that it sometimes inspires fear – this marks the experience as existentially authentic. One of the interesting approaches to evaluating such a compound is to see how eager people are to do it a second time. A touch of terror gives the stamp of validity to the experience because it means, “This is real.” We are in the balance. We read the literature, we know the maximum doses, the LD-50, and so on. But nevertheless, so great is one’s faith in the mind that when one is out in it one comes to feel that the rules of pharmacology do not really apply and that control of existence on that plane is really a matter of focus of will and good luck.

Alex Grey Describes His First DMT Experiance

Ok, this is what truly happened, this was my first time..

I was in a group of 6 people, inside at nighttime. The only light source was a candle
in the centre of the room, and we were all around it. Anthony just had a huge dose,
he did prana breathing with his dose and I was shaking with excitement…
a full body shake that I could not control. Now it was my turn.
‘Gastro’ held the glass bong with the glass pipe attached, he
lit it carefully making sure not to fully vaporise it, he said.

“NOW!”

DMT, Moses, and the Quest for Transcendence

Here is a great article that proposes that people of ancient times may have had DMT / Psychadelic experiances more often than people do today.

Maybe Moses and Jesus had a greater rate of pineal DMT production than most.

Which is an interesting concept , then Dr Rick Strassman responds to this idea in a way that would closely link in with Dark Room Therapy :

When I asked Rick Strassman, M.D., author of DMT: The Spirit Molecule, about my theory, he responded: I’m not familiar with a specific theory that we made more DMT in the old days than now. But, are you familiar with Jaynes’ idea of the bicameral mind–that people routinely hallucinated until the connections between our hemispheres got evolved out for whatever reason? I don’t think hemispheric connections would support his idea as much as might higher levels of endogenous DMT. If indeed we made more DMT in the past, this may have to do with the increase in artificial light that has come upon us in the last 1000 years or so.

Terrence McKenna Interview by Art Bell

Great interview of Terrence McKenna in 1997. Covers lots of topics including some good in depth DMT talk.

Friends of Santo Daime in Australia

Sign me up !

Founded in Brazil 1945 by Raimundo Irineu Serra, known to followers as Master Irineu. Serra, a rubber extractor whose work brought him into contact with native religious practices, began using Daime, (a hallucinogenic tea known more commonly as Ayahuasca) in the early nineteen thirties. During one of his visions, he communicated with a woman he called the Queen of the Forest, an aspect of the Virgin, who commanded him to found a new Church, with ayahuasca as its sacrament.
