You might be able to make being lazy work for you , but i still get the feeling that being lazy won’t get the work done !

You’re feeling lazy right now, and reading blogs instead of doing what you’re supposed to be doing. That’s OK — we all do that. We’re all lazy, in different forms, at one time or another.

But let’s look at how to make that laziness work for us, and how to turn lazy into productive.

We often beat ourselves up about our laziness, even though it’s a natural condition that every human being gets to some extent. It’s time to stop the self-criticism and see how laziness can actually be a positive, no matter what society tells us.

One of my favourite video games of all time :

Another World wasnt your typical early 90s videogame. Almost entirely a solo project, visionary young Frenchman Eric Chahi fused his artistic talents with his programming nous to deliver one of the most memorable videogames of the 16-bit era.

The term cinematic has long been overused to describe videogames, but Another World was arguably one of the first that justified the term. Emerging at a time when cutesy visuals and cuddly characters with superpowers were the norm, Another World was, in 1991, the antithesis of this. It was dark, eerie, and extremely hostile. The hero was a nobody.

I assume that absolutley n0o mainstream media coverage will be given to this as they would be too busy reporting on petrol prices to notice.

Howard Hunt, the countrys most notorious spook who later served time for his role as one of the plumbers in the bungled burglary that later toppled Richard Nixon, gave a near-deathbed confession to his long-estranged son, naming then-Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson and a handful of CIA spooks as the cabal behind the assassination of John F. Kennedy, according to a story in Rolling Stone.

The following link is to a full essay called Temporary Autonomous Zone by Hakim Bey aka Peter Lamborn Wilson. Here is the description from wikipedia :

The Temporary Autonomous Zone (TAZ) describes the socio-political tactic of creating temporary space that eludes formal structures of control. The essay uses various historical and philosophical examples, all of which attempt to lead the reader to the conclusion that the best way to create a non-hierarchical system of social relationships is to concentrate on the present and on releasing one’s own mind from the controlling mechanisms that have been imposed on it.

In the formation of a TAZ, Bey argues that information becomes a key tool that sneaks into the cracks of formal procedures. A new territory of the moment is created that is on the boundary line of established regions. Any attempt at permanence, that goes beyond the moment, deteriorates to a structured system that inevitably stifles individual creativity. It is this chance at creativity that is real empowerment.

This is probalbly Hakim Beys best known work and is well worth taking the time out to read.

A intersting side note is that according to wikipedia an audio CD was produced by Bill Laswell of Peter Lamborn Wilson reading excerpts from the book with the music said to feature none other than frequent Laswell collaborator Buckethead.
