Go to www.UFOTV.com. “Shamans of the Amazon by Dean Jefferys is one of the best documentaries available on the use of ayahuasca in contemporary context, in traditional cultures that are being destabilized by the forces of globalization. As Jefferys’ documentary makes clear, the revival of traditional shamanic practices with ayahuasca is proving to be a potent political and propaganda tool for reaffirming and preserving cultural values and identity in indigenous societies that are buffeted by environmental, economic, and societal forces beyond their control.” – Dennis McKenna PhD, co-author The Invisible Landscape

The Subtle Body

rainbowbody.jpg

Behind the obvious physical being is a series of more subtle vehicles of consciousness, each with its own aura (shown here as concentric ovoids around the body) and energy dynamics. The set of small circles down the mid-line of the body are the chakras.

Beyond the consciousness of the gross physical body itself is the emotional, mental and spiritual consciousness of what could collectively be termed the psyche. The Psyche is not a single entity in the way that the Physical Body is, but rather the sum of a number of distinct “subtle bodies” note or vehicles of consciousness that exist as frequency levels on the Etheric Plane. The word “subtle” is used to distinguish these bodies from the gross physical body.

How to Become a Hacker

Very informative article for those interested.

The hacker mind-set is not confined to this software-hacker culture. There are people who apply the hacker attitude to other things, like electronics or music — actually, you can find it at the highest levels of any science or art. Software hackers recognize these kindred spirits elsewhere and may call them ‘hackers’ too — and some claim that the hacker nature is really independent of the particular medium the hacker works in. But in the rest of this document we will focus on the skills and attitudes of software hackers, and the traditions of the shared culture that originated the term ‘hacker’.

There is another group of people who loudly call themselves hackers, but arent. These are people mainly adolescent males who get a kick out of breaking into computers and phreaking the phone system. Real hackers call these people ‘crackers’ and want nothing to do with them. Real hackers mostly think crackers are lazy, irresponsible, and not very bright, and object that being able to break security doesnt make you a hacker any more than being able to hotwire cars makes you an automotive engineer. Unfortunately, many journalists and writers have been fooled into using the word ‘hacker’ to describe crackers; this irritates real hackers no end.

The basic difference is this: hackers build things, crackers break them.

Iannis Xenakis – Electronic Music

“An essential CD of Xenakis’ electronic works, this disc reissues the entirety of the Nonesuch Electro-Acoustic Music disc, and adds two later pieces. The contents are Diamorphoses, Orient-Occident, Bohor, and Concret P-H from the Nonesuch disc, and Habiki Hana Ma and S.709. The first four are all classics of musique concrete, generated from the simplest of sounds (smouldering charcoal, wrist bracelets). The highlight is the monumental 20-minute Bohor, a milestone of ambient-industrial music. Habiki Hana Ma is from the 70s and uses orchestral sounds as its base material. The latest piece is the computer-generated S.709 from 1994, which in a word is amazing.” (David Martinelli)
